Martin Minutes

Wow- we have a big boy in the house! ...and he is soooo excited to be 5 and all that comes with 5...school, the bus, feeling like a big boy, and in our case- moving to a new house (more on that later)! This afternoon he went out to put his new bell on his bike and told me he was going to use his dad's tools...he felt like he was old enough now (thankfully he didn't need the drill or saw).

we started the morning with a birthday donut and opening his presents. he asked for a suitcase (???) for his birthday...don't ask me, i'm not sure-- maybe for taking his toys to the new house, or hinting he wants to go on a vacation, or traveling with grandma and grandpa, or maybe it's just the cool wheels they have on suitcases now?!! he's a happy camper, whatever his angle!

dad and ben and sam took a fieldtrip to the zoo today to see the new dinosaur exhibit (it's officially a dinosaur birthday). mom stayed home to rest up (it broke my heart not to go w/ them- but didn't want to slow/drag them down.) Aparently, the boys weren't too fond of the big T-Rex, but the other "plant-eating" dino's they were ok with.

tonight we'll have a little party and dinocake at Gram's house. despite the crazy couple weeks before, i think we've settled down a bit and Ben's had a really good birthday! i can't believe that little peanut is 5 years old- AMAZING!
